Big Millstream Falls is located down a short gravel road off Highway One, just outside of Ravenshoe. It is in Millstream Falls National Park.

You’ll find several motels and hotels in Ravenshoe. The most famous perhaps is the Ravenshoe Hotel – the highest pub in Queensland!

Initially, we had just saved this waterfall on our map and didn’t really research or look at any pictures – we were just told it was worth a look if you’re in the area.
It was definitely worth it! Not only is this perhaps the widest single-drop waterfall in Australia, it has a certain beauty to it when flowing just the right amount. It was our first time, but it just seemed so perfect how the water cascaded over the ancient basalt lava stone.
After a quick coffee in the the spacious carpark, we took the short 340m walk to the viewing platform (return trip) and were blown away at the size! We can see how it must be in the running for the widest single-drop fall in Australia.
At the carpark, you’ll also find the Heritage Walk, which is another short walk in the National Park – you can see some old military barracks.
Glad we didn’t miss this!
