Ultimate Aussie Bucketlist Experience
Wow… just wow!
After spending a night here on two different occasions, my wife and I were amazed at how this ticked all the boxes to a perfect camp spot.
We had the pleasure of meeting most of the family that own and operate the surrounding properties – and we felt like we were a part of the family instantly.
If you’re planning on taking on the Devils Thumb hike, this is very close to the trail head.

The camp ground is right next to a beautiful creek – perfect for swimming. It’s not deep, so if you plan on taking kids there, or just want a relaxing spot for a cool off – this is the place to be. And of course, it is completely crocodile free!
There are only four sites on this campground which makes it an intimate experience. It’s a sealed road all the way, so any vehicle can do it. The bathroom is a chicken coop that has been converted – it is beautiful and clean, with some nice stylish additions, but also a real country farm feel to it. With only four sites, one toilet and shower is enough.
The sites are all flat (as long as you place your set up correctly) and the taps are running town water.

Sites 1 and 2 are on the left side, with a large open space that separates it from Sites 3 and 4. Here you will find a small table and two chairs and also the path that leads down to the creek – being only a few meters away.
There is a lot of space between Sites 1 and 2, which comprises of the amenities block, and also a beautiful little communal fire pit. The owners supplied the firewood and an ax for us there, plus some flat logs to sit on. It truly is a magnificent place.
The owners have actually just opened up an unpowered camping ground a few gates further up the road – Creeks Edge Park Site B. Here you’ll find another amenities building and fire pit area. There is a shady spot to sit and set up chairs, though the vehicles or other set ups would most likely be in the sun – perfect for solar. This is also next to a small creek too!

Phone reception is a bit patchy – but if you really need it, walking up the hill a little on either side of the creek will probably give you what you need.
Annette, the owner, provided details to the waterfall that can be accessed through her daughters property. For the sake of them not getting randoms, I’ll leave out the directions to those – but rest assured, if you take the trek to the falls, you will not be disappointed!
My wife and I got a lift from Annette’s daughter and granddaughter, and they took us for a drive onto their property. As we were driving up the gravel hill, a stampeding herd of cattle came roaring around the corner into view! Oh what a site it was haha. We thought the cattle would run into the 4WD and the dust was getting stirred up – it was a pretty hectic and tense scene. Thankfully the cattle managed to make their way around the vehicle without causing any damage.
After that little adventure, they took us to the creek where the track started. It’s not exactly an easy walk, and you’ll be keeping an eye out for the ribbons that mark the way. Watch out for spiky vines and fallen trees.
The waterfall is one of the best we have seen – and it’s perfect for swimming. A large rock provides the best platform for having a wine or beer and a launching pad into the swimming hole – what more could you want!
It really is such an awesome experience staying at Creeks Edge Park.

The other awesome thing about the camp site is that because it’s only four sites, it is an intimate experience. We made good friends with the other campers. One night we sat around the camp fire sharing stories of our adventures and travels around Australia. We had the opportunity to meet some really awesome people – with some incredible stories.
It really is hard to beat a camping spot like this.
- Accessible for anyone. No 4WD needed.
- Right next to a beautiful creek with a rope swing and vines to rest on.
- Croc-free swimming!
- Hospitable and friendly owners.
- Intimate experience as the campground only has FOUR spots.
- Power, water and clean amenities.
- Nearby hiking and walking.
- Peace and serenity.
- Communal fire pit.
- Nearby waterfall – this is an absolute hidden gem.
- Kid-friendly experience with the swimming and opportunity to see friendly cattle.
- Bird life is abundant. Expect sun-birds and kingfishers.
- Less than 10 minutes to Mossman to get supplies.

Now, the big question… But how much???
As of the time of writing this:
$40 per site per night for power, water and amenities.
$30 per site per night for unpowered, but includes amenities.
If you’re planning on being in the area, plan on staying here for at least one night!
