JoelWhere and How to Get There
Just outside of Airlie Beach, you can access the suburb of Mandalay by turning into Mandalay Road, near the Discovery Parks at Airlie Beach. Continue heading up Mandalay Road for roughly 3.5kms and you’ll see the opening to the jetty and also a boat ramp.
What to Expect
Jetty, waterfront views, amazing sunsets, marine life, boat watching, harbor views. On the top of the hill behind you in the house of the former owner of Hogs Breathe Cafe – it looks pretty incredible! Keep following the road north and you’ll come across the Outdoor Chapel and then Mandalay House – also another stunning place to see.

Chances are, you’re already in Airlie Beach – and you’ll know there are many places to stay. Close to the jetty you’ll find:

Whitsunday Eco Retreat
Mandalay Luxury Retreat
Not too far away is a lesser know National Park campsite called Swamp Bay. It requires a 2km walk-in from the Mount Rooper track, but chances are, you’ll have it to yourself!

My wife and I are so glad we stopped here for a sunset! It was next level spectacular. So peaceful sitting on the end of the jetty with a glass (our plastic ones haha), watching the boats come in and out of the harbor. As the sun started to set, we could see the outlines of distant mountains.
There’s something quite special seeing the last bit of daylight spray across the calm water especially with the silhouettes of boats. Just mind your step as you walk along the jetty, it’s literally only three planks wide and can feel a little shaky – especially after you enjoy the sunset wine haha.
If you’re in or around Airlie Beach, we’d definitely recommend it!
